NEIGHBORHOOD BEAUTIFICATION:

Creating A Unified Aesthetic In The 6.1 Miles of Historic Noblesville

When most people think of Noblesville, the Historic Square comes to mind — but did you know Old Town stretches 6.1 miles east of the river?

This plan is all about bringing that same small-town charm and character from the Square into the surrounding neighborhoods, creating a look and feel that ties the whole community together.

Best of all, it's a team effort — homeowners, local businesses, and the city working side by side to make Noblesville a place everyone is proud to call home.

This plan maintains the historic charm of the Square while extending that character throughout Old Town's 6.1 miles. It complements the City's master plan and Pleasant Street expansion by engaging homeowners and local businesses, removing the financial burden from the city. Rollout will happen in phases over multiple years, focusing on these initiatives:

  • Alley Activation: Partnering with homeowners to transform overlooked alleys into vibrant pathways with murals, pocket gardens, and community life.

  • Mural Pathway: A multi-mile self-guided walking tour through Old Town featuring 100–120 murals across 10+ corridor phases, with QR codes linking to videos about Noblesville's history. Phase 1 is underway on Cherry St & Maple Ave; Phase 2 heads south on 11th Street in 2025.

  • Flowering Trees: Planting thousands of native flowering trees over 5–10 years to make Noblesville a blooming Midwest destination each spring.

  • Historic Street Lamps: Offering homeowners a choice of 3 decorative, historic-style lamps to install on their property, creating a uniform downtown look without city expense.

  • Pocket Parks: Identifying homeowner properties along alleys or streets to serve as small community gardens or privately owned pocket parks.

  • Creative Parks & Paths: Collaborating with the Parks Department on unique spaces such as butterfly parks, fitness areas, dog parks, and flowering tree walkways along the river.
